Hana Sushi Omakase

This was a reminder why sushi chefs are so celebrated. And why it’s so hard to get a seat at top sushi houses in Japan. Even if you’re willing to pay most of the time. Hana was an Omakase experience I really enjoyed, especially after at least eights years without one, before kids.

Their lunch omakase set came with 5 nigiri sushi and 7 sushi dishes. Which was a reasonable amount. They have a bigger set which comes with 23 total dishes. Standouts were the scallop sushi, tuna sashimi and herb roll (with horse mackerel I believe). Wait time per dish was reasonable although there were a few other people in the room.

We also tried some of the best fries I’ve ever had along with some other dishes like the braised octopus with miso. There was also a tuna maki and their sushi rice was blackened with charcoal. It was great!

Not sure whether I can recommend Hana over other similar omakase sushi places since I haven’t tried such an experience in years. Would I go back there though? Yes, absolutely.
